The CarnaudMetalbox Engineering Charity Fund has been helping employees and donating to local charities for over 30 years with 2021 being no exception.
The money in this fund is donated entirely by employees of the company and is held in a separate account to any CMbE monies.
Donations to various local charities are made on an annual basis. Here are a few ways the charity fund has helped throughout 2021:
Children’s Christmas Toy Appeal:
For another year running the CMbE Charity Committee & staff have kindly donated toys to help The Rotary Club of Shipley in their annual Toy Collection for local disadvantaged children at Christmas.
The generosity of people & businesses this year has been mind-blowing. When purchasing bikes a generous member of the public donated £80.00 out of his own pocket to buy 2 Scooters, thank you Luke! All the toys that have been bought and donated by everyone will really help to make a huge difference to lots of families this Christmas.
A special thank you to Halfords and B&M Retail who provided a 10% discount on our purchases to help the cause. B&M also donated a trolley full of toys bought by customers for families in need at Christmas. This initiative, run by The Rotary Club of Shipley relies on donations from local businesses and residents to provide children from more deprived backgrounds with a Christmas present. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped to make this year’s collection the biggest one yet!
Local Food bank – Supporting families in need this Christmas:
Once again another fantastic effort from our employees to support those in most need this Christmas. Food donations are made to the local food bank by members of staff all year round, but this year we knew things would be extra tough for families in crisis over the festive period.
All items have been dropped off with our local food bank. Thank you & well done Team CMbE!
Supporting Staff Fundraisers:
The Charity committee donated £200 to each of these staff challenges.
Swim 22 Challenge
Well done to our Finance Assistant, Emily Marsh who successfully swam 22 miles in total over 12 weeks raising £245.00 for Diabetes UK.
Three Peaks Challenge
On the 28th August our Project Sourcing Specialist, Jason Willis, along with his team completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge raising an impressive £6,500 for Sue Ryder. A huge well done and congratulations to all who took part!
100 miles in October
Our own VP Marc Hoche completed 100 Miles walking, running & cycling during the month of October for Macmillan Cancer Support. A huge well done to Marc who raised £424 in total.
Thank you to everyone who bought a poppy this year, £265.82 raised in total and with the £500 donated from the Charity Committee a fantastic amount was donated to the Royal British Legion.
Christmas Jumper Day:
Employees were invited to take part by sending in a selfie wearing their festive wears & accessories and asked to donate to the “Save the Children fund”.
Supporting staff members in their time of need:
Contributions from this fund are primarily there to help our own work force who may find themselves in difficult situations, for example bereavement or ill health etc.
