CarnaudMetalbox Engineering (CMbE) donates computers to local colleges

We know how hard home schooling can be for everyone involved; teachers, parents and students alike. Schools are stretched for resource and many siblings are finding themselves sharing computers in order to get work complete.

Computer Schools - donations

So, when Matthew Cave from our IT department realised we had some older PC’s that were no longer to company standard, he cleaned them up and with the help from the CMbE team donated them to a local school and a college who had students with much need of them.

In total 68 PC’s, 42 Screens and 9 Laptops were donated to Shipley College and Titus Salt School.

The extra technology resource was very much welcomed by Nav Chohan – Shipley College Principal who had this to say:

The current pandemic has highlighted digital poverty amongst many individuals in the area. Too many students do not have access to devices that they can use to study in these unusual times. On behalf of the College I’d like to say many, many thanks to CarnaudMetalbox. Their amazing contribution will enable several students to succeed at College. This sort of support for the less privileged from a leading local manufacturer is greatly appreciated

Titus Salt School would like to thank CMbE, from the bottom of our hearts, for the kind donation of IT equipment, for our pupils and their families, to use to stay connected during this latest lockdown period. The equipment is now being processed by our technical staff, software being installed and then prepared for delivery to those who need it most. We all take access to the internet for granted but for many people in our community it is a luxury or something that needs to be shared due to lack of devices or internet connection limitations e.g. data caps. This equipment has the potential to solve some of these issues for those in need and could legitimately change their educational life. Education is the ticket for us all to live our best life and this kind gesture just upgraded some people’s tickets! Thanks again from all at the Titus Salt School Community.”

CMbE has a history of donating to the local community, a few years ago computers were donated to the local Food Bank, these were gratefully received and came in useful for people doing job searches at their Job Club.

Press Release - Mangement Marc Hoche – Vice President and General Manger of CMbE said:

“CMB are only too happy to help! It is great to think that these machines can be repurposed and in donating to Shipley College and Titus Salt School aid students in their studies. We place significant emphasis on training the next generation of engineers and so understand the importance of access to information.”
