    Join a world leading and award-winning precision engineering company in the heart of Yorkshire. Carnaud MetalBox Ltd (CMbE) designs, develops and manufactures high performance metal forming and finishing machinery for the production of beverage cans.

    Role Function:

    • Generate assembly and component detailed drawings from CAD models.
    • Co-ordinate with production engineering to optimise assembly/component Design for Manufacture (DFM).
    • Co-ordinate with quality department to define incoming inspection requirements to verify component quality.

    Duties:

    • Generate design concepts for solutions to specific functional requirements.
    • Document design concept assumptions, design trade-offs, and calculations within the project design file.
    • Use Failure Mode Effect and Analysis (FMEA) techniques to identify technical risks.
    • Prepare and present technical reports for project gate reviews.
    • Contribute to planning design activities with the project manager.
    • Capture project technical risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Provide technical support to the publications department in creation of product manuals, build books, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Adopt New Product Development (NPD) process and tools throughout projects.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the NPD process.

  • 200 DAY ELECTRICAL SERVICE ENGINEER
    We currently have a vacancy for an Electrical Service Engineer (200-day contract but may exceed). The role is to undertake installation, commissioning and maintenance activity on the electrical and control systems for our equipment in customer plants on a global basis. Read more:

    Candidates:

    • CMB Service engineers must be professional in their approach, organised and capable of prioritising their own workload. In addition, engineers will have a flexible style, be a team player and will be capable of communicating appropriately and confidently with people at all levels.
      As well as having the right to reside and work in the UK, CMB will also consider applicant being based remotely.

    Role Criteria:

    • Successful candidates will be experienced in the installation, commissioning and maintenance activity of electrical and control systems.

    Essential:

    • Candidates will have proven experience of working and operating both Allen Bradley and Siemens control systems and will have experience of working on high speed capital equipment. Applicants must be apprentice trained and qualified Electrical Engineers with a willingness to travel and possess a systematic and practical approach to fault finding Proven PLC and HMI design, test and commissioning skills.

  • 200 DAY MECHANICAL SERVICE ENGINEER
    An opportunity has arisen for a Service Engineer on a full time contract (200 day but may exceed). The full time role is permanent and the successful candidate must be prepared to spend up to 200 days a year on service work, which can involve extended periods living away from home, often at very short notice. Read more:

    Role Details:

    • Successful candidates will be experienced mechanical engineers and be very familiar with the CMB Product Range. This will be hands on experience gained in a production environment. The job involves the installation, commissioning, repair and maintenance of CMB machines including (but not limited to) Die Neckers, Bodymakers and Trimmers. You will provide and update technical bulletins and ensure that customers are informed of all the latest developments. In addition to identifying opportunities for machine upgrades & enhancements.

    Essential:

    • Previous experience within the Canmaking industry and an in-depth knowledge of the CMB product range. Applicants must be apprentice trained and qualified Mechanical Engineers with a willingness to travel.

  • SKILLED ASSEMBLY FITTERS – WORTLEY 
    To assemble and test machinery and equipment with the use of engineering drawings, machine build books and SOP’s, producing quality work to the required standard in a safe manner following CMB procedures. Read more:

    Duties:

    • To work with in the company’s Health and Safety policy and procedures
    • Assembly and testing of can making equipment to meet customer requirements.
    • Delegation and support of non-complex tasks to semi-skilled team mates
    • Ensure all documentation is up to date and legible
    • Ensure workplace standards are adhered to
    • Carry out Operator Asset Care tasks
    • Ensure the area is kept to 6’s standards  and audit work areas as and when required.
    • Report any hazards that may cause harm to yourself or a colleague
    • Carry out any cleaning pit-stops at the proposed time efficiently and effectively
    • Escalate any parts, drawing, routings and machine Faults
    • Participate in investigations to determine non-conformance (5Y/8D)
    • Document any data relevant to associated tasks
    • Ensure that Stock control procedures are adhered to at all times
    • Participate in any continuous improvement initiatives and provide constructive feedback to the improvement team
    • Communicate with operators from other shifts and carry out effective end of shift handovers
    • Be flexible and move to other areas you are trained as and when the business needs dictate
    • Provide on-the-job training to apprentices and new employees
    • To have a can do attitude and embrace change with in the business.

    • Marking off, drilling and tapping.
    • Fitting exterior equipment: examples include nameplates, labels, guard switches, guarding, hydraulic hoses, auxiliary pumps.
    • Routing steel and nylon pipework as directed.
    • Unpacking parts and equipment
    • Fitting of non-electrical machine services prior to testing.
    • Using sealants as directed.
    • Non-electrical stripping of machines prior to despatch.
    • Assisting in the loading and unloading of equipment onto wagons as directed
    • To complete all shift Documentation as required during assembly of component.
