The 13 September marked a unique milestone in the nearly 100-year history of CarnaudMetalbox Engineering (CMB). CMB proudly celebrated the manufacture of the 1,000th 550 Trimmer at its headquarters in Shipley West Yorkshire, UK. To mark the event, the senior management team cooked a BBQ for all the workforce and handed over a commemorative plaque to representatives of Ball Packaging Europe.

Also present and pictured at the ceremony were the engineers involved with the first trimmer, which was dispatched in February 1996 and those that built the 1,000th machine.

Andrew Truelove, general manager CMB, said: “Today was a day of celebration of achieving another significant milestone, which follows closely the 1,000th 5000 series Bodymaker and 100th 3400 Necker and is even more remarkable given the timescales involved.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to our suppliers and of course our customers, but most of all to our dedicated and hardworking workforce that has made this all possible.”
