Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Reports to: Lead Engineer
Grade: C14
Direct Reports: Nil
Job Purpose:
  • To interpret customer’s specification, Enquiry specification, Sales Order Acknowledgement and quotation.
  • Complete the necessary drawings compile BOM structures and add to the Manufacturing system.
  • Support all other areas of the business with the required product knowledge.
  • Support Customers and Spares division.
Location: Shipley
Travel Required: Ocassionaly
Budget Responsibility: No
Duties:
  • Prepare accurate Cad Drawings within a time scale. (2 & 3D)
  • Create Spares assessed BOM structures, Machine registers and contract structures on the IBS/MRP manufacturing system.
  • Interpret specifications.
  • Support all parts of the business with product knowledge.
  • Implementing machine upgrades and changes

Job Title: Technical specialist (Metal Forming)
Reports to: Lead Engineer
Direct Reports: Nil
Job Purpose: We are looking to recruit a Technical Specialist (Metal Forming) based at Shipley (UK) to act as the chief technical resource for our customers within the CMB quality team. Manage buy offs, complaints and warranty issues and act as the customers advocate within CMB to facilitate solutions to can making process/machinery issues for metal forming equipment and tooling. You will be required to undertake extensive travel up to 50% of working days.

The successful candidate will join CarnaudMetalbox (CMB) Engineering, part of Crown Holdings Inc, the market leader in the design, development and manufacture of can-making machinery. Applicants will be required to trouble shoot customers technical issues with CMB metal forming equipment, either at CMB or where necessary by travelling to the customer site. Reporting to the Head Of Quality, you will play a lead role in setting up equipment for final customer approval and assisting in ensuring approval processes run smoothly and to timetable.

You will work with customers to determine the root cause of can making process issues, and ensure that problems arising from the equipment supplied by other OEM’s is correctly identified. You will be the technical resource for the Service Department to help determine if customers concerns should be dealt with through our warranty procedure together with the Investigation of customer complaints. You will represent the company on customer sites when commissioning is complete, and work with the customer to ensure any minimum efficiency levels are attained or exceeded within contractual obligations to ensure retained payments are secured.

Job Requirements

To apply for this position you will hold a Degree or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline, or have substantial demonstrable experience in mechanical, quality or production engineering. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in 2 piece can making in a technical role is essential coupled with experience of aluminum processes and any experience of steel can making would be an advantage.

In exchange for your ongoing commitment to the role we offer a salary of between £50k and £60k, bonus, private medical insurance and pension.

Relocation assistance will be available.
